That sneak Jeanne (Cook Sister!) has nominated me for continuing this meme! There are only six letters in Jeanne’s name. What was she thinking?! There are NINE (count them… 9!!!) letters in my name. I can hardly count past four….
Okay, okay… I’ll get started…
Lasagne: no need to go further, really, is there?
Ice cream: I scream; you scream; we all scream…. Yes, it’s true. Ice Cream is not my absolute favourite. But it would be great if it weren’t so COLD. It used to drive me crazy when I was a kid and cantaloupe (another non-favourite) was being served for dessert. Someone would say, “but it has ice cream” in an attempt to tantalize me into retracting my decision to not have dessert. (Why on earth was it so important for me to eat dessert?! :stomp:)
Zest: whenever lemon, lime or orange juice is called for, I like to add at least a little bit of zest as well.
Apple pie with sharp cheddar cheese is one of my favourite things. Once when I was out of town for work in a small town, I ordered apple pie for dessert at the hotel restaurant. This is how the conversation went:
Server: Would you like your pie to be warm?
Me: Yes please!
Server: (smiling) With ice cream?
Me: No thank you, with a slice of cheddar cheese, if you have it.
Server: (stunned silence) …cheddar cheese?! Okay….
And the piece of pie arrived, steaming beautifully, topped with a big wedge of melted cheddar cheese! I couldn’t quite contain my surprise and the server looked crestfallen, worried that I was going to send it back. But it looked and smelled fine. And you know what? It was fabulous!
Bread: yeasted, unyeasted, wildyeasted, wholegrain, sweet, savoury, flat, toasted, broken and warm with sweet butter… who says one can’t live on bread alone?
Eating: (I know… at least one other person has used that same word for “E”. C’est la vie.)
T: my husband and my chef – without him, life would be awfully dull.
WHole wheat flour is the best thing, well, since sliced bread. I always add a tiny amount to any of the white flour bread I bake. I learned this from Carol Field in “The Italian Baker”, its presence in the bread mimics hand-milled flour and lends a lovely nutty flavour.
And there you have it. The only thing left is to nominate 9 people to continue with this meme.
Keeping with the theme of the meme, to use each letter in my first name, I nominate the people who create these blogs that I like to read when I get the chance.
Oh dear. I hope that
- None of these people have already been nominated.
- Nobody minds being nominated.
- None of them feel any obligation to complete the meme if they don’t want to.
Emma (Laughing Gastronome)
Jenn (The Leftover Queen)

Alanna (A Veggie Venture)
Brilynn (Jumbo Empanadas)

List one fact, word or tidbit that is somehow relevant to your life for each letter of your first or middle name. You can theme it to your blog or make it general. Then tag one person for each letter of your name.
