Birthday Series: Richard Strauss

another shameless self-promotion:

Please join us while we celebrate the life and music of Richard Strauss (June 11, 1864 – September 8, 1949).

Heliconian Hall, 35 Hazelton Avenue, Toronto

R.Strauss concert 7:30pm 11 June 2010, Heliconian Hall, Toronto

Along with lieder, we will be playing an early string quartet of Strauss (op.2) that has the most amazingly beautiful slow movement – I’ll be amazed if everyone isn’t sobbing by the end of it.

The quartet will also be joined by a double bass player to accompany one of the sopranos for the three stunningly beautiful songs Morgen, Breit’ über mein Haupt, and Zueignung.

Not only will there be Straussian music, but there are also door prizes and after the concert, you will be invited to stay for complimentary birthday cake, served with tea and coffee (regular, herbal and decaf!).

Tickets are $20 (Regular) and $15 (Senior/Student). To reserve tickets, please email tickets(at)birthdayseries(dot)ca or call 416-944-2655.

For more information, please read the following:

Did I mention there was cake? And cookies too. And of course, with the cake, there will be Schlag. There HAS to be Schlag. :-)
