Here are our recipes for Cherry Snowballs . Crescents

Crescents  

Ingredients

Preparation

1. Cream butter, icing sugar, vanilla and ssalt together.
2. Add flour. Mix well.
3. Add ground almonds. Mix well. (Let your hands be your friends.)
4. Roll dough into small sausage-like shapes. Bend each one to look like a crescent and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
5. Bake for 10-15 min at 350F or til light golden.
6. Roll hot cookies in icing sugar. Let cool completely before storing in airtight containers. These keep for several weeks.

Cherry Snowballs  

Cherry Snowballs are made by putting a maraschino cherries in the center of small balls of crescent dough (one cherry per cookie). The baked cookies are rolled in granulated sugar to resemble snowballs.

Preparation

1. Mix the dough.
2. Put a maraschino cherry in the center of a smallish amount of dough. Roll into a ball shape and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake for 10-15 min at 350F or til light golden.
4. Roll the hot "snowballs" in granulated sugar. Let cool completely before storing in airtight containers. These keep for several weeks.

You can also make pecan snowballs by substituting pecans for the maraschino cherries... and I suppose cranberry snowballs too by substituting dried cranberries for the maraschino cherries.
