Made with fennel seeds, candied orange peel, orange/lemon syrup and candied ginger, these snowflakes are based on Susan's (Wild Yeast) wonderful recipe for Lemon Anise Snowflakes (www.wildyeastblog.com/2010/12/09/lemon-anise-snowflakes/)

Susan gave two shaping methods. One was to form the dough into ropes and make something like a flower. This was relatively easy to do (and would have turned out even more nicely if I'd paid proper attention to Susan's instructions).

Here is the result that looks a little more like a flower than a snowflake.

The second shaping method was to roll it out into a disc and cut it into a 6 sided snowflake.

I was given crimpers for Christmas and decided to try decorating the snowflake more with them. (Heh. My crimping technique clearly needs work.)

Here is the crimped snowflake.
