Helloooo all llizard forum friends,

This morning I am pondering new year's resolutions. To help me with this, I have consulted the following tables about ideal weight:

Body mass index (BMI) calculator of the US National Heart and Lung Association

Canadian BMI calculator -- same as above, but not as easy to use. Has a nifty graph.

Ideal Weight Calculator

I think this has been the subject of discussion on llizard's forum before, but I don't think we looked at the Ideal Weight Calculator.

Personally, I never weigh myself. My gauges for alarm or not are whether I can get my belt done up and whether I can climb stairs without wheezing. However, although I tend not to make New Year's resolutions, I might succumb this year and make one. I'm favouring David's from last year:

  • Eat more Soup

I never weigh myself either, but the other day a medical person demanded to weigh me. Of course I looked. It was not a pretty sight. Using the Body Mass Index, if I deduce pound of clothes, I am a "normal" weight. If I don't, I am "overweight." That's too close, particularly since I'd have to lose 40 pounds before being classified as "underweight."

Definitely time to eat more soup, do more exercize... etc.

This is one area where we are struggling in. It's an "in thing" in this country and in certain sectors, one's job may be on the line if one is not within one's BMI range. Also thanks to the media where every celebrity is advertising for one slimming centre or another. Soup. Yes, my brother has also recommended that, vegetable soup plus the exercise and daily walks are working for him. So we will give soup and swimming, a definite, this year. stomp stomp
