I once heard or read a comment about one of the wonders of refrigerators: instead of having to throw out left over food immediately, now you can keep the food until it turns green and furry and THEN throw it out.

Some refrigerator science projects are a bit scary. Blue fuzz is one thing, but I worry about the yogourt or the contains of left-over rice. Often the fuzz is the same colour as the yogourt or the rice. My mother has a rule to put a label with the date. I wish I would follow that rule.
