Yesterday we saw the movie "Valentin". A quick glance at Rotten Tomatoes would have you think that this is a "heartfelt" and sappy sentimental film with a cute kid overcoming all odds - not so at all.
The film begins with 9 year old
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Valentin describing his life. His parents have separated and he has been left in his grandmother's care. We follow him as he tries to cope and improve his lot.
The director, Alejandro Agersti , tells the story without sentimentality. It is, in fact, based on his own childhood experience.

A wonderful film for all ages.

edited to add the spoiler coding (I am a weirdo fanatic for not wanting to know ANYTHING about a movie before seeing it) -llizard
