In the Globe and Mail - Giving peace tree a chance among Christmas symbols article

Madam Justice Marion Cohen ordered a Christmas tree out of the main lobby of the downtown Toronto building and into a nearby hallway, so as not to offend any non-Christians on their way in.

Madam Justice Marion Cohen has got it all wrong. Non-Christians being offended? What about the Christians? Especially the fundamentalist literal Christians who are probably really relieved and happy that the pagan symbol (no doubt garishly decorated with lights and shiny objects depicting flying creatures) is no longer sullying that particular main lobby of that Ontario courthouse. In fact, perhaps all trees festooned with lights and decorations should be banned from all public places. I'm sick to death of having to sooth those whose delicate sensibilities are constantly shattered....

(It has just occurred to me that I have neglected to add a Christmas tree to the list of available emoticons here. Remind me to do that for next Christmas!)

Tis the season to be jolly. Happy Yuletide. I'll be enjoying the traditional winter feast day, I'll deck the halls with boughs of holly, kiss under the mistletoe, decorate a tree and burn a Yule log.
