I listened to Obama's Berlin speech http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-9ry38AhbU yesterday and was very impressed. The setting, in Berlin, was perfect for his message of co-operation. It was the place where, if Truman had not intervened 60 years ago with the airlift, the Soviet juggernaut would have rolled west over Europe. It is also the place where in 1989 where the Iron Curtain began to fall.
While the speech certainly harks back to the one Kennedy made there in 1963, but it is much stronger on specifics.
The speech is inspiring to listen to at the end of the Bush era.

Nothing against what Obama said in Berlin, but is it normal for USA presidential candidates to campaign abroad as well as in the USA? Even though they claim that he's not campaigning and his trip is non-political. *cough* Yah, right....

When it comes to campaigning for the U.S. presidency, a position of such immense global power, I think it is very smart to meet with western heads of state during the campaign. Obama is competing with a party that selected George Bush, a person who had never been outside his country when he was selected. I think that a nation in crisis needs someone who will reach outside of "normal". That was, I think, the essence of his speech , and is also the essence of his whole campaign.
As for a politician being "non-political", well it don't fit.
