The BBBabes chose to make these in September 2009. In 2012, I FINALLY got around to making them. Once again, I shouldn't have waited so long. Steamed Flower Rolls are wonderful! These are stuffed with butter, toasted sesame oil, green onions and red chilies.

Here they are just after shaping.

The rolls are placed on parchment paper and steamed in a bamboo basket. Here they are just gone into the steamer.

It took only about 20 minutes for them to cook. They really puffed up!

We served them immediately with chili pork and peanuts and stir-fried broccoli (not shown).

The next day, we cut the left-over steamed rolls in half and deep-fried them in oil in the wok.

The gold colour was beautiful. And they were wonderful crispy on the outside but still soft on the inside.

We served them with tart plum jam.
