Bengali Fish Curry

Bengali curry is very very hot but absolutely delicious. Another equally delicious but a little less hot curry is the wonderful very rich South-Indian inspired Golden Coconut Fish Curry.

Bengali Curry Ingredients: mustard oil, kalonji (nigella seeds), cumin seeds, brown mustard seeds, dry red chilies, ginger, onions, garlic, green thai chilies, black pepper, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and tomatoes. And we like to add red pepper - from what I understand, red pepper is not a traditional ingredient but it is a great addition. (We have also used red pepper to great effect in South Indian-style Fish Curry.)

Either Shrimps or firm fish fillets work very well. The photo on the right is of dory (similar to cod).
