Cheese from the Thin Blue Line
The orange cheese was our favourite. Beemster... mmmmmm....
Fig and olive crackers. Lesley Stowe crisps are available all over Canada and the USA. Reasonable facsimiles can also be made quite easily. Please take a look at photos of Faux Stowes. Our friends gave us some wonderful rosemary flatbread as well. (Sorry no photo... we ate it all before we thought to get the camera.)
The glass might say "gin" but it contains grappa - perfect with cheese and crackers. It's the ultimate dessert.
All of these cheeses were really good but the most outstanding one is the orange one, Beemster, an aged Gouda (cow's milk) from the Netherlands. There are wonderful caramelized shards throughout the cheese.
