Pie Pumpkin or Squirrel Food?

Hallowe'en 2009

This "pie" pumpkin (at least I thought it was a pie pumpkin) was left it outside on the porch for about twenty minutes before bringing it inside to carve it. Squirrels had ALREADY started feasting!!

Ewwww!!! The back of this larger non-pie pumpkin was quite mushy. It too was left outside before carving. Squirrels left it entirely alone.

We love that the pumpkins tell us what kind of faces they will have. This is the face that was suggested to T on the big bad pumpkin.

On the little pumpkin, I decided to carve two faces - one on the front and one on the back. I used the squirrel gnawed areas as guidelines for vent holes. As soon as I cut the pumpkin open, I realized that this was NOT a pie pumpkin at all. It was an immature Hallowe'en pumpkin - the tasteless watery kind.
