Not all the pumpkins were carved to have faces.

We were particularly impressed with this caged bird.

How ingenious to carve a house!

Many pumpkins were topical. There were a number of "h1n1" pumpkins (photo taken with the flash because the candle had burned out).

The "no dirty diesel" sign refers to the proposed frequent-trains airport link that will run directly behind the park. The city has announced that the trains will be diesel - heavy polluters, both noise and air.

Pumpkin Man just south of tennis courts:

We were so entranced with the crazed glee of this pumpkin that we almost missed the "Boo!" directly beside it.

We couldn't miss the snake though! Who could?

Very clever use of gourds! So clever that we didn't see the little bird until after downloading the photos.

This pumpkin is enhanced with chillies and garlic.

We used the flash for this to make sure the chillies would show. (The mouse is made of felt... looks real though, doesn't it?) Hmmmm, might this chilli-head pumpkin be a portrait of someone we know??
