I was reading about monte veronese cheese in a recent issue of Saveur Magazine. We asked at our cheese shop – they said they sometimes carried it but didn’t have any that day. They suggested asiago or toscanello as an alternative. The asiago was okay but had that sweaty quality that it always seems to have. The toscanello was wonderful! Sweet, slightly nutty. With red grapes, it made the perfect dessert. Read a little more about Toscanello at Cheese.com.
