I can’t stand commercially made peanut butter that has dextrose, hydrogenated vegetable oil, salt etc. etc. in it. All I want added to my peanut butter is salt. Years ago, I used to be able to get store brand peanut butter that was “Just Peanuts ‘n Salt”. Then the saltfree craze started and the store brand peanut butter turned into “Just Peanuts”. Of course, I know I could grind my own salted roasted peanuts but I’m too lazy. So we were sprinkling salt down every time we had peanut butter (if we remembered…). Very dissatisfying. Suddenly, the other day, as we opened a new jar of “Just Peanuts” and began to stir in the peanut oil that had risen to the top (as always has to be done), we realized we could just add salt to the whole jar and stir it in right from the outset. It’s unbelievable that it has taken us so long to figure this out.
