I just saw your announcement about this on your blog today, David. Hmmm, should I delete my Facebook account too? ...it's tempting; it's tempting. I've noticed that Facebook has definitely reduced the number of comments on my blog (of course, it might also be that people just weren't interested in v...

Ha. I just came in here to basically shut down the forum because people haven't been here for eons. I was going to make the whole thing "read only". I will leave the forum intact. I too miss the discussions we had. The advantage of this forum (over FB) is that discussion threads don't disa...

Can't quite bring myself to shut it down....

Once again, I was very close to folding this forum. But I just can't quite manage to throw it away. I put all the old threads into a locked archive and have left this section open for new posts.

Natural Disasters and Emergencies after March 2011

Natural Disasters and Emergencies Watching the news these days can be overwhelming. And of course, when we sit in our living rooms, helplessly watching as people are swept away, or fires rage, or houses crumble, or..., we want to feel less helpless. And all of us can help - with donations to reputa...

Somehow, screaming in public, "It's not not I, it's ME" does not seem to be the answer. And yet, strangely, it bothers me every time. But screaming it at the TV is, for some bizarre reason, strangely satisfying. And when I hear it in person, I am constantly muttering "for X and me &q...

In a failed attempt at commenting on basil pesto with whole pine nuts (WHB#35: basil) i love to eat asian foods because they are tasty and spicy. Aside from the fact that she failed to frame her comment in Haiku form, I'm not quite sure what Choe's point is. Is she saying that the basil pesto with w...

It's about time!!

CTVNews: Toronto unveils automated, pay-as-you-go toilet But, unlike the other public toilets in Toronto, will this be available year round? AND, more to the point, has it been polar tested? Make sure you have your quarters ready! As part of a 20-year program, the city hopes to put 20 outdoor toile...
