Re: Facebook - any good??
Mostly what I do is play Wordscraper which is a knock-off of Scrabble. Occasionally, I'll post a picture but really, it's just to play games. There are games?! Then I definitely can't join Facebook. :stomp: (I'm not allowed to play games on the computer.... :lalala: ) EJM, you could probably play w...

Re: Made up words
I had trouble sleeping last night and whilst wander through empty forums I sat and invented some new words: OOOOOOOOOOOOoooooh!! And I thought I had too much time on my hands. :lalala: (I particularly like "Oophobia" and am happy to report that I do NOT suffer from it.) I like "mothe...

Re: Saying "thank you"
Personally, I never neglect to thank all who help me in any way from my wife to the bus driver who stops where I've requested. It is important. I travel more than I'd like to. When I see a person cleaning a washroom that seems obviously well taken care of in an airport or other public place, I try ...

Oh, wieners are hot dogs? ... It can be any kind of sausage but it only becomes a hot dog once it's in the bread bun. Yes, it's the same here, David. The wiener is the thing you put into the bun in a hot dog. It's not a hotdog without the bun (and some might even claim that it's not a hot dog witho...

Re: Foreign Aid Is Good ??
1. Some argue for fair trade rather than more aid or free trade. I must watch Mwenga's talk, though. 2. Regarding purchasing fair-trade coffee. If we all did this, there would be more pressure on other companies to start doing it. Most of us don't buy things in order to ensure we support the workers...

I hadn't realized that the government has been privatizing inspections! Thanks, MEF, for giving us the heads up on this important issue.MEF wrote:...the federal government handed over the bulk of inspection responsibility to producers.

...hard choices. I learned that some of the compostable plastic bags are plastic with an additive that causes them to break down into C02, H20 and "biomass" See http://www.epi-global.com/en/products/biodegradable.htm But it's pretty clear that deforestation is a bit problem, particularly ...

Re: Hmmm...
I'm not sure that I remember the math involved here, but, if getting a calculation right can actually make me younger, heck, I'm going to review those Grade 10 textbooks right now!!!! I prefer to use this calculator which goes down to base 2: http://www.cleavebooks.co.uk/scol/calnumba.htm (although...
