Saturday in Phnom Penh
I'm mainly resting today, Saturday, here in Phnom Penh. Much needed. Enjoyed visiting llizard's forum, e-chatting with family on MSN and doing other things that foreigners do when on short visits here like read newspapers, think about where to go for dinner and think about Christmas shopping. There ...

Re: Time to Hit The Streets
Not a great food beginning; still, I feel sure you will hit the streets and markets and find the real thing! Don't think I'd do street food in Cambodia. Still pretty grim here -- Very easy to get quite sick here if not very careful, and even then.... Really too bad that most government officials he...

Phnom Penh dinners
Hello llizard's forum friends, I'm currently in Phnom Penh for a few days and thought I'd do a food report from time to time. In case you think I am already dining on fabulous Cambodia food, I must tell you that I arrived just last night after having a marginal meal on the plane (some kind of fish c...

yesterday I served Chicken Cacciatore (sp?) from my old standby The Joy of Cooking. Two huge roasting pans full of about 45 chicken thighs. Hardly a morsel left after about 60 or so starving students descended like locusts. The kids really seem to need and appreciate decent meals at this time of yea...

David: yes, when cooking for a large group, I use all the criteria that you do. Mexican pie fits. It went over very well with all age groups and all national groups. I didn't make a bean dip -- make refried beans instead, using the general outline of the recipe. Used a mixture of pre-grated jack and...

Re: need recipes for large groups
Tested Mexican pie this evening with our family. We ate quite a lot. Really delicious and I love the texture, which is different from enchiladas. The only problem I anticipate with a large crowd is cutting up the pies quickly in a buffet line up. Needs a very sharp knife to cut through tortilla shel...

Supersize Me
Saw the movie Supersize Me last evening. Enough to put one off junk food forever!

Yes, there's meat. I often take a chicken or beef dish as well as a vegetarian dish.blm wrote: What? No meat?

agree to take food to a weekly dinner for 35 to 50 voracious young adult students [...] Need more really good vegetarian dishes, and non-vegetarian dishes. llizard, thanks for all the suggestions. I tried the lentils and rice dish -- delicious. Served with pita bread and yogurt with cucumber. It we...

need recipes for large groups
Hello fforum ffriends of llizard, I have been foolish enough to agree to take food to a weekly dinner for 35 to 50 voracious young adult students who don't necessarily get a lot of good meals each week. I have been taking a humungous salad (thank goodness for those bags of ready-to-use salad greens)...

Had a chance to see "The Day after Tomorrow" the other evening. I found it very exciting, and enjoyed it. I understand it's not plausible, but I didn't care while I was watching it. Typical "disaster" flick but fun.
