Things to check when getting a new mobile phone
I got a new phone recently, a Nokia 2760. It wasn't until I started using it that I realized I missed checking for a few things. The volume control should be easily accessible while talking on the phone. With my old phone, the volume control was on the outside of the phone. With my new phone, it's a...

Re: okay, it's official... I have too much time on my hands
When I clicked the one that's posted on your Facebook page, it switched to a different picture and I thought "that's not almost nothing". :lalala: It switched to a different picture?? What kind of different picture? (I'm beginning to HATE facebook.) The drawing of the person leaning into ...

Re: okay, it's official... I have too much time on my hands
But I'm not a big fan of the actual button. It's just not really big, don't you think? So, I made a bigger button: http://etherwork.net/scribbles/push.html It doesn't do anything either. Well, almost nothing.... Ooh, I like the almost nothing that it does. But shouldn't yours be even bigger? You've...

Re: When the cell phone rings
It's not as if what was on the other side of the cellphone could reach into your brain to do anything to you. Or can it??? Yes, it can reach directly into your brain through your ear. Whoooooooo. Just like scary movies can do it through your eyes and your ears. I still get the SHIVERS when I think ...

Re: When the cell phone rings
If one notices a stray cell phone and it rings, should one answer it? If one does, what happens next? If I lost my cell phone, I would phone it hoping that someone would answer it and tell me where it was. But if I heard a stray cell phone ringing, I still might be a bit wary of answering it in cas...

I found it indeed mind boggling to hear what's going on in biology these days. I guess I haven't been keeping up.

I see a place for both Facebook and forums. Facebook is (for me at least) similar to having a hallway conversation - if you're not in the hallway at the time, you miss out on that particular conversation. Forums are slower paced, and the conversation is available to be continued at any time. I know ...

Re: Vegan?
How about this - no animal products from 10:45-6:00 for health reasons. I'm aiming for pretty much no animal products before 6, but I am still having milk and often butter at breakfast. My main goal in this is the health of the planet. My own health is an important (very important) side effect of d...

Re: Facebook - any good??
I try to maintain my professional "face" on facebook -- I tend to stay towards the professional or "not very personal" except in private messages, and even then will tend to move that discussion to ordinary email. ... I belong to several forums related to my work, and on those, ...

Re: Facebook - any good??
Actually, I'm using my real name in all forums these days because my gender and age makes me uninteresting to most of the creepier online types and I have noticed that forum member do respond differently to "David" and "ABC123". I now use my real (first) name in forums too. I wi...
