How much is too much?

I was watching Paula Deen's cooking show today--it's like watching a snake, you just can't look away. She made Deep Fried Macaroni and Cheese . What disturbed me most was that she only cooked it in the hot oil for about 3 minutes. Is that long enough to cook the bacon? Is it long enough to make it t...

After I read My Year of Meats by Ruth L. Ozeki, I couldn't eat beef for close to 18 months. I was horrified by what I read. Even now, I eat beef very rarely (no pun intended) and I try to get free range beef. Chewing gum? Chicken feathers? I'm afraid to read the article.... I'm REALLY afraid to read...

We used StarOffice a few years ago when it first came out. While the program was fine to use at home, if you needed to send or receive a copy of a document, it was impossible because StarOffice wasn't compatible with anything. Perhaps this has been changed. I hope so! :yippee: :yippee:

Re: "Dust" by Martha Grimes

Why doesn't someone stop me? It wasn't absolutely terrible ...snip... Yes, yes, it was. It was terrible but unfortunately that doesn't stop me from getting the next one when it comes out. Here's a quote from one of the reviews referring to Dust and the forgettable one that came before: "becaus...

sorry, couldn't resist.

AND, it ups my total number of posts. I'm sad to see that I'm only a few above "others". I guess I have to talk more.

[...snip...] I'm having a great time, smiling just about all the time, even when they're bouncing of the walls like angry bees in a glass jar. I know EXACTLY what you mean. I teach Kindergarten and while it's like herding kittens 95% of the time, I still smile just about all the time. :lalala: :yip...

On the bottom of the bonus round, there's a question that says "have you put any of the pieces together yet?" Am I supposed to be able to manipulate the pieces? I can see which pieces should go together but I can't do anything with them. :jump:

Re: Why steam?

I'm guessing that it's to remove as much of the water from the spinach as possible. We usually salt our spinach and squeeze it out before adding it to lasagne for that reason. Yes, just that reason. I find that if I put fresh spinach into a casserole, it makes the casserole very wet and sometimes a...

Squash Lasagne with chicken

A couple of months ago, I read ejm's blog entry about squash lasagne . I adore squash in just about any form and roasted squash is just so wonderful that I had to try this for my birthday dinner in November. It was brilliant. Last night, I made a new recipe that was inspired by the original. I roast...

MrBrown has one that he got at least 12 years ago, maybe 15 so you can imagine how ancient it is. He says it's very limited by today's standards but still uses it for the hundreds of telephone numbers he has stored for his job. The key pad has broken so he can extract information but can't input thi...

All this is FAR too unwieldy for my poor little brain. When I got to David's post, I wanted to say "7!! The answer is 7!" I think I'm completely intolerant and narrowminded regarding this statement and I won't give it no chance. To almost quote a character in a book I didn't finish, I say,...

Most people have family outings to the beach or the local park but not us! We go to the library! Just yesterday, we had a family outing to the gigantic library in the big city close to where we live. We LOVE our local library. It's quite small but very well stocked and the librarians are fun--they c...

The first time I looked she was clearly spinning counter clockwise and I didn't have time to write an answer. The next time, when I had a little more time but was more tired, she was clearly spinning clockwise. I was confused and went to bed. Since then, I wondered if every time I clicked on the lin...
