Slow Cookers
originally a starblvd post by MEF, Dec/22/2003 13:21:47 [-05 EST]
I have just bought a slow cooker for my parents. Although I have never used one myself, the concept of putting in ingredients and leaving them to cook without constant attention sounds really appealing ( especially for anyone who doesn't relish the idea of spending a lot of time in the kitchen). Does anyone here have experience (good or bad) with slow cookers?

lamb shanks in slow cooker?
originally a starblvd post by CAM, Jan/9/2004 12:06:19 [-05 EST]
Has anyone on the list done lambshanks in a slow cooker? I am imagining that slow cooking on "low" might be ideal for the slow braising part of the process. One would need quite big one, though, which I see they are selling these days. Slow cookers are not as cheap as they used to be, though!

CAM, I started drooling just from reading your title.
I haven't done lamb shanks in a slow cooker, but recently I did lamb shanks in a very slow oven, and they were absolument fantastique*.
*hehehe

I don't really like the idea of slow cooked lamb. But I do like the idea of slow cooked pork or beef.... We recently did shortribs in a very slow oven - wonderful!
Jag déteste Lammfleisch!
