Apricots picked for Not Far From the Tree (NFFtT) in late July 2015.
The apricots were tiny and almost all of their skins covered with an ugly brown blemish. But the inside of the fruit was perfect. Peeling the tiny apricots was a little bit labour intensive but definitely worth the effort.
I probably should have taken a closeup photo of the blemished apricots to show just how hideous they were, but I just couldn’t bring myself to let anyone but us see just how ugly they were.
We pick fruit from Toronto trees and share it with Toronto people. […]
1/3 is offered to the tree owner, 1/3 is shared among the volunteers, and 1/3 is delivered by bicycle to be donated to food banks, shelters, and community kitchens in the neighbourhood so that we’re putting this existing source of fresh fruit to good use. It’s a win-win-win situation!
